HOW I SEARCH

When I started researching my own family tree several years ago, I began (as many do) with Ancestry.com – but quickly found that even though the information Ancestry provides is exciting, there can be an absolute avalanche of hints, and many of them had nothing to do with my relatives. Digging deeper, I found there are myriad research tools available on the web, not connected to Ancestry, that helped fill in the pieces to my puzzle. Using what I learned on this quest, I now offer detailed family tree-building for others using a wide assortment of resources and methods, sorting through hundreds of pieces of information, assessing each item for its validity to ensure comprehensive and accurate information.

I’ve made incredible discoveries for my clients, have reunited family members, and solved long-standing mysteries. Not every family mystery can be solved, but I promise I’ll be tenacious in my search for you!

CUSTOMER QUOTES

“Two years ago I knew nothing about my father’s family (he died when I was five). Sophie Searches discovered all the details on his military history, and the story of how his father’s family emigrated from Ireland to America in the ‘20s. I’ve since met my cousins in Dublin! It is incredibly fulfilling to know my history and share it with my daughter.” — Peggy Williams

“My mom died when I was young, so her side of the family has always been a big question mark. Sophie Searches helped me discover all kinds of family history I didn’t know about, including two aunts who were put up for adoption and so I never knew about them all this time! I’ve now connected with one of their sons (my cousin) and am finding out all kinds of new information. Amazing!”  — Rebecca Cate

“I only had knowledge of my family going back to my great-grandparents in the late 19th century, and even that was sketchy. Sophie Searches extended that knowledge by 200 years! And she found more than just facts—she found stories in newspaper clippings and death notices that brought those shadowy figures to vivid and unexpected life.” Hugh McDonald

FAQs

Do I need a DNA test to research my ancestry? Not necessary – DNA tests are helpful to connect you to relatives who may have some information on your family, but if that information is also available online, I’ll find it with or without your DNA test.

Do I need an Ancestry.com account? Yes. It’s my job to evaluate the information your Ancestry account provides, as well as use a variety of other tools to confirm and add to your Ancestry tree. My goal is to provide you with the most accurate information from a variety of sources.
